ON THE GO THEATRE COMPANY presents Ways and Means
written by Lynda Gray, directed by Cara Novotny
It’s 1939 and Jimmy, a young Bolton lad, aspires to play football for Bolton Wanderers. His dreams of being a Wanderer come to a halt however, when he faces difficulties raising the money he needs to buy a proper pair of football boots for the trial. His family support him even though they live a meagre lifestyle. Meanwhile Bolton prepares itself during uncertain times as the outbreak of a Second World War approaches. What could this mean for the future of the Wanderers and the future of Jimmy’s family?
A play inspired by true events. It’s suitable for all ages, and in particular those who have distinct memories of their loved ones going through WW2. On The Go Theatre Company are an over 50’s Theatre Group who write, direct and perform their own plays, many of which have an important historical feature.
